My Journey To A Healthy Lifestyle.

So I have never been the healthiest eater, it is EXTREMELY hard when you have the biggest sweet tooth. I love to bake and all these things I bake need to be eaten so there I go diving head first into the brownies, cakes and cookies that I bake. I decided I wanted to change this around and start a journey to a healthier lifestyle than I have at the moment.

So this is actually my first day on this new healthy cleanse. Its a lot harder than I thought it was going to be but I've stuck to it. Pretty proud of myself actually.

I'm going to be going through everything that is helping me keep track of my calorie count, how much sugar I have eaten and also how much water I have been drinking.

  1. The Calorie Counter!

So to keep account of how much I am eating on the daily and also calorie budget to help me lose some weight that has been put on over quarantine, I am using MyNetDiary this app has helped me to understand how much I am eating on the daily and also how much water I am drinking.

It is a free calorie counter app that allows you to scan the bar code of your product then it uploads straight onto your account. It is great for setting targets to lose weight, just weigh in weekly and you can see your progress, it gives great tips on your journey. Its even good just to keep track of what your eating to see what you need to improve on and what you need to eat more of.

You track in your breakfast, lunch, dinner and any snacks that you eat throughout the day. You also track your water every hour. so just put in when you finish a bottle, cup or 1/2 a cup of water and it will track when you drink. You can set meal reminders of when to eat your food and also gives you advice along your journey that are personalised to you.

You can connect your Apple Health app to it and it will record all of your steps that you have taken throughout the day and count it for exercise. It also keeps your analysis and tells you if your on target or off target.

2. My Day One!

So my first day. Jheez! It has been difficult to get through, i just had to treat myself to a slice of homemade brownie. YUM! i needed a celebration for getting through the first day. So the food I have consumed on my first day of this new cleanse. For my breakfast I had a cinnamon swirl and a Caffé Latte. This came to 320 calories. My calorie budget is 1,418, my breakfast took a lot of these calories if i'm being honest but I needed something sugary to get me woken up as well as my latte.

My lunch consisted of a salad with radish, cucumber, iceberg lettuce and tomatoes. This was only 25 calories so i didn't have much fro lunch just helped with my 5 a day. I only started having my cucumber water around 2pm but since then I've had 4 200ml glasses of it. My snacks were a big part, i haven't had my dinner yet as I'm not so hungry. The snacks I had throughout the day were a mini pack of party rings, a cherry activia yogurt and a cinnamon porridge. This came up to 362 calories.

I've done 2,449 steps today and I am setting a task to reach 5000 everyday, I also want to start exercising a lot more this will help me to lose the calories that i want to lose and also help me to tone the parts of my body and to change the fat into muscle. To do this I need to start having more protein in my diet rather than my 5 a days. I also need to eat the same amount as i usually do but replace the food i usually eat with healthier options such as a chocolate bar being replaced with a piece of fruit.

I have eaten 141g of carbohydrates today which is not great being carbohydrates make you bloat and make you tired. I have had 28g of protein and 26g of saturated fat which is not too bad for my first day on my journey to a healthier lifestyle. My average food grade for the day is a B- which i am proud of. Im hoping that my second day will be much better than this one!

3. The Benefits of Consuming Cucumber Water!

Cucumber water helps to keep you really hydrated, your body cant function well without water in the system, aiming to consumer 6-8 glasses of water daily. Everyone knows that they should drink water everyday but we all seem to push past the thought because its plain and boring. Adding the cucumber to it allows for a slight taste which encourages you to consume more.

It also helps us to lose weight! Its remarkable what something small added to your drink can do. If you're trying to lose weight then replacing sugary drinks, carbonated drinks and juices with the cucumber can allow you to drop some serious calories from your diet. Staying hydrated also makes you feel full, sometimes your body can confuse thirst with hunger making you feel hungry when your actually thirsty. Knowing the difference? Have a large glass of cucumber water and if your not hungry after then you were thirsty but if you're steal hungry then you are hungry.

Cucumber helps to deliver antioxidants to your body. These substances help prevent and delay cell damage from oxidative stress which are caused by free radicals. This can lead to cancer, diabetes, heart disease and eye degeneration. It helps to lower your blood pressure, high blood pressure can be caused by too much sodium intake and too little potassium intake, cucumbers are rich in potassium. Potassium is an electrolyte which helps to regulate sodium levels.

It supports healthy skin which is a big deal to me and to a lot of other people. It helps to soothe your skin from the inside out, it all links to keeping hydrated, it helps flush out all the toxins and maintain a healthy complexion. Cucumbers are rich in pantothenic acid or vitamin B-5 which is sued to treat acne. One cup of sliced cucumbers is 5% of the daily average of this vitamin.

4. My Goals.

I weigh 57kg, i am hoping to get to 50kg by August, the calorie intake app is helping me to reach this by giving me a budget of calories to eat on the daily. I am hoping to start the gym to turn the fat that I have into muscle or i am not going to get anywhere. My budget is close to my intake per day anyway so its not as bad for me.

I want to start the gym and make improvements to my lifestyle to live happier. These big improvements are going to be hard but i am going to keep pushing myself because i don't want to give up. I can't wait to see the changes, many of these have already happened and even after this first day of my journey i feel so much better!

If i can make these big improvements and go on this journey then anyway one can because i am the laziest person and i just love to sit and read all day but i know i need to get some exercise in or i am going to become a lump. Here's to a fresh healthy lifestyle and bigger and better things!
